Do you struggle to accept compliments?

I'll admit. This is something I've struggled with a lot in the past. People would say the most beautiful, kind words about me and I'd disagree with them or simply not believe it.

The first step to overcome this is to simply accept the compliment. Accepting a compliment doesn't mean you need to believe it (yet). It is simply accepting that somebody else can believe it.

I spoke with a client recently about this and my suggestion to her was to accept the compliment by saying thank you (without any disagreements or 'but' statements). I also suggested that she tell herself "I am starting to believe that somebody else can believe this about me". This adds a little less pressure for you to believe it right away too!

Accepting, believing and agreeing with compliments can take time, so continue being gentle with yourself and take it one step at a time.
