You need to stop lighting yourself on fire, pushing, hustling and saying saying yes.
You need to stop overcommitting, suppressing your emotions, seeking perfection, doubting your abilities and resisting change.
You need to stop neglecting your mental health, your needs, and your well-being.
You need to stop ignoring your boundaries, seeking validation from others, comparing yourself to others and avoiding difficult conversations.
You need to stop dwelling on past mistakes, fearing failure, holding onto toxic relationships and procrastinating on your goals.
You just need to stop.
Stop lighting yourself on fucking fire because that’s how you get burned out.
You deserve more. You deserve more than the leftover energy you have at the end of the day, and that’s if there is even any energy. Why do your partner or kids or family or friends or boss deserve all of your beautiful energy and parts of you?
What about you? When are you going to be important enough to be a priority? How long until you realise how important you truly are? Why do you keep putting yourself last?
When do you get to chase your dreams? When do you get the time to express your emotions fully?
When do you get the chance to stop doing for everyone else and simply be, just for you?
Please stop lighting yourself on fire because that’s how you get burned out. Whether you’re burned out mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually. Or hell, maybe in all ways. You’re setting yourself on fire by abandoning yourself, putting yourself last and not taking care of you.
Instead, you need to start prioritizing self-care, resting, pacing yourself and focusing on balance.
You need to start saying no when necessary, setting realistic commitments and acknowledging and expressing your emotions.
You need to start embracing your imperfections, believing in your abilities, and embracing change.
You need to start prioritizing your mental health, acknowledging and addressing your needs, and nurturing your well-being.
You need to start respecting your boundaries, validating yourself from within and appreciating your unique qualities.
You need to start having courageous conversations, learning from past experiences and embracing opportunities for growth.
You need to start letting go of toxic relationships and take proactive steps towards your goals.
You need to put down the lighter, matches and fire and prioritise you.
Put your oxygen mask on first and then you’ll have more energy for the people around you.
You were important yesterday. You are important right now. You will be important tomorrow.
Prioritise you.
