Life can be crazy, trust me, I know. I own 2 businesses, I have a toddler and I’m pregnant, all while I still manage to juggle friends, my partner and my own self-care.
When I launched my first business, I knew that I needed to make some changes. I had to create a more organised and simplified life to keep up with everything and that’s what I did. Over time, things have evolved, life has gotten busier and I have continued to ensure I stay organised.
I wanted to share some of my favourite ways to stay organised so that you don’t have to feel stressed or overwhelmed but instead, you feel excited and empowered at each day that comes.
To-do lists
My biggest savour is having to-do lists. I have multiple lists which cross off each part of my life and I truly believe they’ve been one of the biggest helps!
Take a look at the blog post I wrote specifically about managing to-do lists here.
Set a morning routine
Each morning, I wake up at the same time and I do the same routine. It’s like clockwork. Every single morning is the same and that’s why I begin my day on such a positive, motivating and empowering note.
During my morning routine I journal, I meditate, I look over my to-do list for the day, I move my body, I take a look at my vision, I brush my hair and teeth, I wash my face and put on sunscreen, I get dressed and I make the beds.
Every morning, I spend 1 hour on all of these tasks and by the end of the hour, I have already accomplished so much.
Setting a morning routine is essential to success (both personal and professional). Spend the time making a routine you truly enjoy, spend 30 days on it and you’ll never look back.
Use your calendars
I personally use an electronic calendar on my iPhone so I can plan as far into the future as needed but I also have two whiteboards in my office. One is for the month ahead and the other is for the week ahead.
At a quick glance, I can see what I have scheduled for each day which is such an important tool for a business owner and mother. Every day I have at least one appointment for myself or my family so this has been a life-changer for us!
Bonus: I also have a calendar linked with my partner's phone so he can see all family appointments too! Super handy if somebody is forgetful.
Outsource
Over the last 2 years, I’ve found that there are so many things I’ve been doing that I just don’t like doing, within my business and personal life. The truth is, anything can be outsourced. Literally anything.
Within my business, I have two virtual assistants. They help me with a range of tasks that I just don’t enjoy doing or it takes too much time to do.
Within my personal life, I utilise whatever is needed that week. That may be a cleaner, groceries being delivered, a gardener or simply calling family and asking for a little help with my son.
It’s okay to outsource and it’s more than okay to give up doing the things that you don’t like.
Declutter and organise your home
When I made the decision to declutter my house and organise things, I found a huge relief waiting for me. I was able to find things easier. There was less to pack up and put away. I didn’t need to clear benches simply to clean them.
Decluttering my home was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done. I gave away things we didn’t use or want any more. I sold things and made thousands (literally thousands!!) of dollars.
And now, my days are so much more relaxed, especially because I work from home.
Decluttering your home and organising what you do decide to keep will be life-changing.
These may seem like simple steps to you. Maybe they’re all things you’ve tried before but never stuck too and honestly; they are simple. They’re so incredibly simple but they are what makes each day easier for me. If you implement simple changes like this, your days, weeks, months, years and life will be completely different.
Trust me when I say, sometimes simple is the most effective.
With love
