relationships to family

Updated: Mar 21

Mindfulness, Mind, Body, Soul Wellness & Healing | Counsellor & Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach in Newcastle Australia

I’ve had a lot of conversations lately about what our family relationships ‘should’ look like.

Comparing to our friends, movies, books and society as a whole tells us that we should be close with our family. We should be best friends with our siblings. We should always make the effort with our parents. We should forgive anybody who is blood simply because they’re blood.

But with love, f*ck that.

We don’t owe relationships to people simply because their blood. We don’t owe relationships to people simply because we ‘should’.

We get to decide who our family is. We get to decide what relationships we have. We get to choose who is around us. It is OUR choice.

With love & support,
