practising mindfulness in any activity

Today I got a pedicure.

Something I do somewhat regularly and really enjoy, it's one of those typical self-care things that actually do really fill up my cup!

Usually while I'm getting a pedicure, I multi-task. I reply to emails, I write content, I message my assistant, I plan new things, I order new stock. I do everything but enjoy my pedicure.

But today, I decided to do nothing. I wanted to relax and enjoy the mindfulness. So I did just that. I put my phone on silent beside me and I simply sat.

I felt the warm water against my feet.

I felt the rough, but soothing scrub against my legs.

I smelt the lotions.

I allowed my muscles to relax in the massage chair.

I watched people walk by talking to their kids, carers and loved ones.

I listened to the calming music and felt my nervous system calm down.

I told myself how grateful I was to be able to go (during a workday) to get a pedicure and afford one.

You can practise mindfulness during any activity... a pedicure or the dishes, sitting in traffic or going on a walk, playing with your kids or sitting alone. When you allow your mind, body and soul to be mindful, that's when your cup truly refills.
