Morning routines

I LOVE routines. I don’t think my life could run anywhere near as smooth as it does if I didn’t have routines. By having a solid morning routine in place, you can wake up and start being productive from the second you open your eyes (which I find super motivating for my day!).

Each morning you wake up on a brand-new day with new opportunities, so why would you want to waste it? Why waste it by thinking of yesterday or dreading the day ahead of you? Let’s get into what a morning routine is, how you can have one and I’ll also touch on my personal morning routine!

PS, make sure read until the end because there’s a goodie for you!

What is a morning routine?

Simply put, a morning routine is a collection of things you do each morning. It’s basically a set of actions you do before starting your day.

Each person’s morning routine will differ, which is totally okay! A morning routine is not a one size fits all approach, it needs to be customised to match your goals and your ambitions, but also what you enjoy and what fills your soul. I don’t want you to be doing things which you don’t enjoy.

How can I implement a morning routine?

Find your morning routine! As mentioned earlier, each person is going to have a different morning routine. My routine is not going to be the same as what you want or need and that’s completely okay.

When creating your morning routine, take some time to think about what actions ground and energize you. You might notice a few things on my own list which stand out and you want to try or you might think of something yourself. Either way, find the things that make you feel happy and positive. Your morning routine is the most important thing you do during the day so fill it with soul-nourishing actions.

Then do it! Start tomorrow.

It takes about 21 days for a habit to form, so start tomorrow and just commit to 21 days. Then, I want you to reassess and see how you feel. I’m sure you’ll notice the difference. You can thank me later!

My morning routine

I know it can be overwhelming to think of ALL of the things you can do in the morning, so I thought I would share mine. I’ll keep it sweet and simple.

I also thought I would mention that I am not perfect with my morning routine, some days I miss a step or do them in another order. I have a young son, so I can never predict my mornings, but I stick to it 99% of the time and then I get to enjoy the benefits for the rest of the day.

My routine looks like this:

1. Wake up

2. Leave my phone in the bedroom

3. Drink some water

4. Have a smoothie with my favourite supplements

5. Move my body

6. Gratitude journaling

7. Plan my day

8. Personal care (make-up, brushing teeth ect)

9. Quick house check and tidy

10. Start my day

What not to do

Now you’ve been given some ideas for your morning routine, it’s time to quickly touch on what not to do.

Take some time to think of things that don’t work for you. Maybe you hate reading. In this case, I don’t want you to read! Don’t do something just because I’ve got it as an example, do it because you want too.

I hope this has helped you form some kind of idea on morning routines and how you can get started, but I know information is power, so I have created a SEVEN-page e-book on creating a morning routine! I’m sure you can imagine all of the goodness in there. To download your copy, click here.
