The simple self-care you can do today

By practising self-care, you’re creating a healthier and happier lifestyle for yourself, and I’m sure you can come up with a bunch of big self-care routines (which are GREAT by the way) but there are also so many smaller things you can do each and every day to help create that lifestyle you’re working towards.


I thought it was important to run through some of the smaller, more basic ways you can practise self-care. This list can be done any day and I would recommend you do as many as possible each day.


My quick and short list of simple self-care you can start today:


♡ Exercise

♡ Unplug from your phone

♡ Check your budget (or create one!)

♡ Drink plenty of water

♡ Book in for a massage

♡ Eat a nutritious meal

♡ Take a different route to work

♡ Take 10 minutes to be mindful

♡ Buy a colouring book

♡ List 5 things you’re grateful for now

♡ Take a mental health day

♡ Clean out your wardrobe

♡ Take 3 deep breaths

♡ Unfollow anything or anybody negative on your social media accounts

♡ Take a cold shower

♡ Lay in the sun and watch the clouds

♡ Start listing all the compliments you receive

♡ Book a class you’ve been wanting to do

♡ Be selfish and take a WHOLE day to yourself

♡ Sleep!

♡ Watch a funny movie

♡ Ask your friends to list their favourite three things about you

♡ Start a new hobby

♡ Meditate

♡ Book in for any appointments you have been avoiding

♡ Journal

♡ Listen to an informative podcast

♡ Volunteer

♡ Buy yourself flowers

♡ Stretch

♡ Change your linen

♡ Turn on your diffuser

♡ Visit your local museum

♡ Check over your debts and organise any extra repayments you can afford

♡ Adopt a pet (if you are in the position to commit)

♡ Go to lunch and people watch

♡ Take a 1-minute break between tasks

♡ Burn your favourite candle

♡ Say no

♡ Have breakfast in bed

♡ Make a to-do list

♡ Get up with the sun

♡ Read an enriching book


I could honestly write examples of self-care for hours, I have SO many of them, but I thought this was a short and simple way to get your mind thinking of all the ways you can practise self-care.


I will definitely create more blogs about all of the ways you can practise self-care (don’t forget the 6 areas of self-care as we previously discussed: physical, psychological, emotional, social, financial + home and spiritual) but let’s start off small with this list first!
