the rush to process emotions

There’s a lot of pressure around processing things quickly. To talk it out, make sense of it, find the lesson and just move on.
But when we rush that process, we often skip over what actually needs to be felt.
Your body has its own pace when it comes to emotions and experiences. If something feels overwhelming, your system might slow things down or create distance from it. When we push past that and try to process before we’re ready, it can feel like we’re going in circles, or like nothing is really shifting.
Sometimes it leads to overthinking instead of processing. Sometimes it leads to shutting down because it’s too much. And sometimes it can feel more intense, because the body hasn’t had the chance to build enough safety to hold what’s coming up.
Processing isn’t about getting to the other side as quickly as possible. It’s about allowing what’s there to move through in a way your system can actually handle.
Slowing down doesn’t mean you’re avoiding it. It means you’re working with your body instead of against it.
Real processing happens when there is enough safety, enough capacity, and enough space to feel without being overwhelmed.
That can’t be rushed.
